In the weekend’s round of the Prototype Winter Series at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, Sebastian Gravlund secured a third-place finish with his co-driver, Dutchman Rik Koen.
Saturday’s race was canceled due to heavy rain, which dominated the track throughout the day. Therefore, it wasn’t until Sunday that Sebastian took action behind the wheel of the Inter Europol Competitions’ 450 horsepower prototype racer. Starting from fifth place, the driver from Vedbæk managed to advance to second place before it was time for the pit stop and driver change.
After the driver change, Rik Koen drove the car to a third-place finish. It was a wholly approved result with a minimum of training and preparation before the race:
“It was a completely approved result! Both Rik and I are brand new to LMP3 cars, and due to the rain on Saturday, we didn’t get the kilometers we had hoped for. The goal was to fight for a podium, so it’s a super satisfying result to finish with,” says Sebastian Gravlund. Now, he is looking forward to the start of the season in the Michelin Le Mans Cup in a month – on the exact same track:
“It’s quite practical that I’ve already gained some experience with the car on the track, so there’s a chance we can be competitive from the start. The Le Mans Cup field is no joke, so every little bit counts,” says Sebastian Gravlund.
