Sebastian Gravlund

LMP3 debut for Gravlund this weekend

Sebastian Gravlund will try his hand at his first endurance race at the Portimaõ Formula 1 track in Portugal with a Le Mans-winning team.

After focusing on making his way through the ranks of formula racing in recent years, the Copenhagen-based racer now gets a taste of endurance racing. This will happen with the Polish team Inter Europol Competition, which won the LMP2 class at Le Mans last year.

The debut will take place in the Prototype Winter Series, a short championship raced on Southern European tracks with the participation of many major teams. The agreement has been reached in a very short time, but the idea is far from new:

– I’ve been thinking about trying the endurance discipline for a while to see if it’s something for me. The opportunity arose just over a week ago, so a few quick decisions were made, says Sebastian Gravlund, who has not yet met his Portuguese co-driver in the Polish team.

– It will be a wildly exciting challenge! In formula cars, everything was about my preferences and results; now we have to work together to find a compromise that benefits both my co-driver and myself, doesn’t burn the tires too quickly, and much more. I’m sure it will be fun, says Sebastian Gravlund.

The first training sessions will be held on Thursday, and once the qualification is run on Saturday morning, Sebastian and his co-driver will already have seven training sessions under their belt. Both Saturday and Sunday will feature a 50-minute race with a driver change during the event.
